Hello fellow Ireland lovers,
I am traveling to Ireland during the month of March and plan to be there on St. Patrick's day. The two things I want from this trip is to visit Sacred sites and to find other singers and musicians( I sing Celtic and folk music) - live music, traditional and contemporary, but also people who just like to sing and play for fun and would include me. In addition I am on a tight budget so any suggestions for bed and breakfasts, hostels or other rooming arrangements would be much appreciated. I will be visiting friends in UK first week in March then on to Ireland.
Thank you so much,

Brilliant, i was born on St Paddy's Day, and before we moved to England, my sister used to get really upsat and ask why i got parades on my birthday, and she didn't pmsl.

Belive it or not...when i was 7 my mum moved from Rathbane to St.Patricks Well Co.Limerick, and yes i went to St.Patrick school...cliche cliche lol, but that is where the sacred site come's in because on the same read as my old school, is of course, The St.Patricks Well.
20 yrs on i don't know how its holding up (i moved to England when i was 8), but i remember it being enclosed by a wall, and a gate, it was slabed up to a hole in the ground, which was supposed to be the Well.

Google it and see what you find.

Another place is Castle O'Dea/Dysert O'Dea, Co.Claire where St.Tola's Cross is, many a good Bishop came from O'Dea, plus it has the remains of a beautifull church attached to the castle grounds

Juries In is very resonable if you stay in the cities, but i wouls say look up the pub/inn's which are family run, they usualy very resonable, but expect to pay more than you usually would, remember its going to be busy.

Also consider Hostel's, including those run by monastaries etc

Good luck, and in advance Happy St.Patricks Day

Take a look at the hostels on this link; I've stayed at them all and found them to be friendly and comfortable. Many but not all are open in March, so call or email ahead to make sure.

So far as sacred sites, Inis Mor (the largest of the Aran Islands) has a remarkable number in a comparatively small area. Pick up a book called Legends in the Landscape by Dara O Maoildhia at the visitor's center there, if you go. There are a few hostels on the island, which you can probably find at hostelz.com. Ti Eithne's is a great B&B (+3539961303) there. Again, always call ahead, since they might not be open in March.

    Best of luck.
